Director Vishnuvardhan’s brother, Krishna, makes his debut as an action hero in “Alibaba”, produced under the banner of Talkies Times Movies. The shooting has been completed and the film is ready for release next month.
Krishna was a child artiste in Mani Ratnam’s films like “Anjali and Iruvar”. He acted as a hero in Santosh Sivan’s directorial venture “Terrorist”.
Taking a break from acting, Krishna did his MBA in America. He also underwent training in acting in US before returning to India to act in “Alibaba”.
Neelan K. Sekhar, who worked as an assistant to Director Vishnuvardhan, makes his independent directorial debut with this film.
Also making his debut as a cinematographer is Dinesh Kumar, who worked as an assistant to leading Bollywood cinematographer Vinod.
Sherin from Punjab has been given a new screen name as Janani and she plays opposite Krishna.
Prakashraj plays Krishna’s father in the film. His role is not clichéd one, says Neelan.
Discussing the story of “Alibaba”, Neelan says, a day never passes without newspapers reporting incidents of teasing and sexual harassment of women. One encounters this nastiest problem at all levels and in all parts of the country. This issue forms the basis of the film.
The cast includes director Azhagam Perumal, Thilagan, Radha Ravi, and Biju Menon. ‘Comedy’ Jeeva, Manobala, and T.V. Lakshmi.
Vidyasagar scores the music. The lyrics are by Pa Vijay, Nellai Jayantha, and Yugabharathi; art by Remiyan; dance choreography by Kalyan; stunts by Tyagarajan and editing by V.T., Vijayan. The producers are: “Pattiyal” Sekhar and Sanjeev Kapoor.
Krishna is all praise for Prakashraj. “I was very tense when I did my scenes with Prakashraj. Everyone knows the versatile actor can steal the show even there are ten people acting alongside him. He was very sweet, put me at ease and enacted the scenes himself in the rehearsals. I am grateful to him for his kind gesture,” he reportedly said in a media interview.
